April 28, 2016  Great conversation last night about local food and how local planning and zoning policies can impact the success of these emerging new businesses!  Thanks to everyone that came and participated.

Special thanks to Sarah Wright, Winnebago County Health Department Farm to School Coordinator and Darrel McCauley, UWEX Agriculture Educator for sharing their experiences.  Thanks to Erika from Dancing Frog Farm for sharing her perspectives growing and sustaining a local food farm.  And thanks to the plan commissioners who, as always, raise great questions and help each other tackle big ‘conundrums’!

This morning I received some additional zoning information specifically around Agritourism from my colleague at CLUE- these links are included on the resource page.  I think these will be very helpful to those towns seeing smaller local food operations grow and change.
