Nancy Kissel has been involved in 4-H since youth, receiving the Outstanding Girl award in 1952 and 1954. Her 4-H involvement has led to a lifetime of very impressive leadership contributions to the 4-H program at the county, state, and national levels.

Nancy was the founding General Leader of the Terry Andrae Trailblazers 4-H Club. The club was actively involved in community service projects, including the REINS therapeutic riding program. Her contributions include a strong leadership system and educational program for the Sheboygan County 4-H Horse and Pony Project. She started the Clothes Horse project and engaged 4-H horse project volunteers and staff in developing the 4-H Horseless Horse project, initially implemented in Sheboygan County. She worked closely with various state specialists developing educational resources for youth and adults. She was a founding member of the Wisconsin 4-H Horse Association.

Active in the American Youth Horse Council, she prompted them to create a youth track at their annual symposium. She was named the 2007 Leader of the Year. In 2014, Nancy received the American Youth Horse Council Distinguished Service Award. Nancy was the first volunteer to receive this honor.
