Milwaukee County 4-H Volunteer

In Memoriam

Eddie gave over 30 years to Milwaukee County and Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development. His service as an adult volunteer embodied a dedication to citizenship, leadership, and character. Eddie established and led three different 4-H clubs. One club blended rural and urban programs and another focused on wilderness adventure experiences. Eddie’s third club focused on understanding other cultures, abilities and levels of privilege and includes bringing in representatives of different cultures. His club created a puppet show, with each puppet representing a different disability.

One of his greatest accomplishments was founding the Outdoor Adventure 4-H Club in 1993, which he led for 14 years. During that time, he led over 20 adventure day trips, 10 overnight camping trips, and taught over 40 workshops on canoeing and camping. Eddie authored the 4-H project book, Planning Your 4-H Adventure Trip, which was used by Wisconsin 4-H Leaders.

Eddie received the Milwaukee County 4-H Volunteer of the Year (1999) and the Milwaukee County Lifetime Achievement Award (2010). His greatest accomplishment was imparting his passion and joy to others and creating future leaders.
