Naturalist Spotlight: Caleb Jenks

Hello, I am Caleb Jenks, and I am joining the Upham Woods staff as a teaching naturalist this summer.  I grew up in the sprawling metropolis of Sullivan, Wisconsin, in Jefferson County.  As a kid, I was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America, and spent a lot of time caring for a wide range of pets that spanned dogs, and cats to frogs, toads, turtles, and salamanders.   I graduated from Carthage College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in biology.  All throughout high school and college, I was a member of the Cross Country and Track teams.  I still enjoy running today, doing road races and the occasional marathon.

I really enjoy showing people things in the natural world that are really easy to overlook, and am especially fond of reptiles, amphibians, insects, bats, and raptors.  What I am most excited for about Upham Woods is being able to let people have up-close and personal experiences with some of these animals, and being able to help run some of the outpost programs.
