Volunteer and Hours Related Forms
Only SEWMG timesheets will be accepted. Please do not use the state form.
It will be returned to you with instructions to re-submit using the correct form.
Important! Please read this overview.
Reporting hours is very important to UWEX as a means of quantifying the valuable contributions of our volunteers in our communities.
Thank you for giving so generously of your time and talents.
With these new documents we strive to make it as easy as possible for you to report, as well as track, your volunteer service and continuing education (C.E.) hours using either Microsoft or Mac. Everyone who has an Excel program on their computer should use these electronic forms. If you do not have Excel, please print the PDF to make your entries manually. If you do not have access to a computer, visit or contact Milwaukee County UWEX office to receive a copy.
To submit hours, you will still need to print and deliver the completed time sheets by September 15 to:
MGV Time Sheets
Milwaukee County UW-Extension
9501 West Watertown Plank Road, Building A
Wauwatosa WI 53226-3552
At this time, we are unable to accept electronic submissions.
NEW MGVs may submit their time sheets as soon as they have worked 24 hours in order to receive a refund of their service deposit (generally done once per quarter). Then, continue adding to your Volunteer Time Sheet until submittal in September so that your total hours for the entire year will be recorded accurately. Though new MGVs are not required to meet the minimum 10 hours of continuing education in the first year, please record and submit all C.E. hours you do earn. Do not include Level 1 Training hours on the C.E. Time Sheet. Because you just completed the fall session, please “X” YES at the top of your C.E. Time Sheet.
In addition to the time sheets and worksheet (item 1), we have created additional documents to assist you (items 2, 3, 4 and 5).
Web Documents and Supporting Information For Reporting Hours
1. Volunteer and C.E. Hours Time Sheets and Hours Worksheet
A. Excel 97-2003 version (*.xls)
B. Excel Newer version (*.xlsx)
C. PDF version of timesheet to print and complete manually
D. PDF version of Continuing Education Hours to print and complete manually
2. Instructions for Reporting Hours
This should be your first reference for assistance.
3. List of Common SEWMG Volunteer Activities
Consult this list if you are unsure where to record an activity.
Not all activities may be listed, but we tried to list the most common ones and cross-referenced different names an activity might be known by to assist you.
4. Directions to Link in Excel – Optional
5. Sample Timesheets and Worksheet
Start by opening the compatible version of the time sheet and save it to your computer!!
You will see there are three tabs at the bottom; the first two tabs are the time sheets for recording your volunteer and C.E. hours, and the third tab is a worksheet for your personal use to track hours, especially helpful for activities you do more than once during the year. At the end of the year, enter only your total hours in the appropriate spaces on the time sheet, which will tally automatically the three categories (Youth, Community Education, and Support) and the first page totals. You can also link your Hours Worksheet to the Volunteer Time Sheet so each time you enter hours your time sheet will update automatically and you only have to print it at the end of the year .
If you have any questions regarding use of the forms or linking, please contact Susan McDonell via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your question or explain the problem, and list your phone number and the best time to reach you.
If you have questions related to Master Gardener Volunteer services, gardens, activities, education, or where to report something, please contact the Milwaukee County UWEX Office at 414-256-4600.

Interesting and Informative State MG Reports
Each year, the president of each MG County organization submits a narrative of the accomplishment that year in their county.
These reports are submitted to Dr. Susan Mahr, the state coordinator of Master Gardeners.
You can read all the reports at this link on the State site, but the last 3 years reports for SEWMG follow the State link.
