2018 Blogging Logging — Introduction

Over the next 16 weeks we will share the findings from a survey of the Wisconsin logging sector conducted in 2017. Our data provide summary statistics on the 2016 production year. Each week will feature a different aspect of the survey findings. Where applicable, we will provide comparisons with previous surveys covering the 2003 and 2010 production years. The Wisconsin logging survey team includes Julie Ballweg (WDNR), Tricia Gorby (UW-Extension), Craig Johnston (UW-Madison), Melinda Vokoun (UW-Stevens Point) and Mark Rickenbach (UW-Madison/Extension, project lead). The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry provided financial support for the survey. Key partners in making the survey happen were the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association, the SFI State Implementation Committee. Actual data collection was handled by the UW-Survey Center.
