The Stateline Equine Education team will be hosting the annual equine educational workshop on Feb. 24, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. in southeast Wisconsin, at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol. The focus of the workshop will be Horse Nutrition and pasture and weed management.
A strong slate of industry professionals will be presenting at the day long workshop, sharing their expertise with participants. The speakers include Dr. Kevin Kline, Extension Horse Specialist at the University of Illinois. Dr. Kline speaks on various equine health topics around the country, with research work focusing on effects of feed processing and feed efficiency. He will be leading off the workshop with a presentation on “Matching Feed to the Need” and “Feed Quality Considerations” for your horse.
Breakout sessions are:
— Building a Strong Foundation for your Pasture: Darrel McCauley, University of Wisconsin-Extension Winnebago County agriculture agent
— Pasture Weed ID and Weed Management: Peg Reedy, retired agriculture agent, UW-Extension Walworth County
— Establishing and Revamping Pastures: Ellen Phillips, retired UW-Extension educator
— What’s in that Bale: Understanding hay analysis: Ellen Phillips, retired UW-Extension educator
— Additional breakout topics include ‘Rotational Grazing’, ‘Equine Feed Supplements’, ‘Understanding Low Carb diets for Metabolic disorders’, and ‘Transitioning from Boarding to housing at Home’.
The cost for adults is $25 per person or $40 for two adults. Older youth are encouraged to attend with registration at $15 per youth. Lunch will be provided and is included in the cost of registration.
