Open Meetings Law Fact Sheet Updated

How specific is a meeting notice required to be under Wisconsin’s Open Meetings Law?  What is meant by “governmental” and “quasi-governmental” corporations in the Open Meeting Law?  Can there be a meeting of a governmental body by email?

These are some of the issues Wisconsin courts and the Office of the Attorney General have addressed in the past six years that are included in the Local Government Center’s (LGC) updated “Open Meetings Law” fact sheet.  Many have used the LGC’s Open Meeting Law fact sheet as a basic reference guide or teaching tool.  The Open Meeting Law and its requirements are summarized in the fact sheet. This revision addresses recent changes in the law.
