Commercial Corner

This page will provide information from the University of Wisconsin Plant Pathology Labs and Entomology Department on current pests in vegetable and fruit crops.

Late blight has been confirmed on potatoes in Adams and Juneau Counties.  This is often called a ‘community disease’ because it is very destructive and easily spread from neighbor to neighbor.  As of now late blight has not been seen this far north this year, however if you suspect a problem be sure to call or bring in a sample for identification.  Below is additional information about late blight and some look-alike diseases from Ken Schroeder, Portage County Agriculture Agent, and information on late blight control for organic producers and some photos from Amanda Gevens, UW-Extension Vegetable Pathologist for help in identifying the disease.
