What do I do if I'm unable to attend a particular session?


For any necessary absences or early departures, e-mail the CLA Coordinator, at swwi.cla@gmail.com. You may also call Jessica at (608) 342-1314.


What do I do if inclement weather prevents me from attending a session?


In case of inclement weather call the CLA Coordinator the morning of the session at (608)342-1314 to find out if session will be held. Or check the Community Leadership Alliance Facebook page for the latest updates.


Who coordinates/organizes CLA?


CLA is made possible through a partnership of the Platteville Regional Chamber of Commerce, UW-Extension offices in Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette counties, and the UW-Platteville Continuing Education Institute.


How do I become a sponsor of CLA?

Where does CLA meet?


Participants meet the last Wednesday of each month from January through June at sites throughout Southwest Wisconsin. When we know each year’s locations, they will be posted under class information.

The topics/curriculum can vary from year to year. Some of the topics that often get covered include:

Why should I attend CLA?


Developed in 1999, CLA was initiated to address the need for committed and progressive community leaders. Through CLA, you’ll increase your personal effectiveness, acquire team-building skills and learn more about Southwestern Wisconsin – its heritage as well as its growth and its future. You’ll gain skills to access and provide for the needs of your community. You’ll discover where there are opportunities for your involvement and leadership. You’ll become a more valuable resource to your employer, your community and to Southwest Wisconsin.


How do I register for the program?


Community Leadership Alliance meets the last Wednesday of the month January through June. Classes are located throughout Grant, Iowa and Lafayette counties. Tuition for the course is $375.00 per participant. This cost covers instruction, materials, meeting spaces, meals, and refreshments.
