Program Coordinator position description

Responsible to

Community Leadership Alliance (CLA) planning team, which includes representatives from UW-Platteville, UW-Extension, the Platteville Area Chamber of Commerce, public and private sector businesses, organizations, agencies, and institutions.

Kathy Kopp, Executive Director, Platteville Area Chamber of Commerce

400-hour position January 1 – December 31.  Average 10 hours per week/12 month position more hours required during recruitment and implementation, limited summer hours, flexible schedule.


Strong organization skills, ability to manage multiple projects and ability to initiate tasks and work with minimum supervision are required.  Experience in working with social media applications such as LinkedIn, Facebook and WordPress and with program planning and coordination and with working as a member of a team is desirable.  


Develop financial resources

  • Work with CLA board of directors to search out new contacts and solicit funds from selected businesses, agencies, and organizations
  • Support CLA board of directors in grant-writing activities

  • Handle inquiries concerning the CLA program.
  • Keep a waiting list of individuals for the upcoming year.
  • Coordinate with CLA board of directors and UW-Platteville Office of Continuing Education (OCE) the mailing lists used for mailing to prospective participants and sources of referrals.
  • Coordinate with OCE and CLA Board of Directors to disseminate brochures and application forms to prospective participants.
  • Coordinate with the CLA partners and planning team to gain publicity for the program and sessions, through press releases, public service announcements, marquee requests, follow up with sponsors.  
  • Social media and website coordination.
Program management

  • Work with the CLA chair to coordinate meetings, take minutes, distribute minutes after meetings.
  • Assist OCE and Chamber in monitoring expenses with respect to the budget.
  • Ensure potential facilities are suitable for the program.
  • Assist CLA Board of Directors in making logistical arrangements with host sites for sessions, including facility, meals, equipment, signs, etc.
  • Attend monthly CLA sessions.
  • Maintain and update CLA Website
  • Arrange & assist with a production of a participant yearbook.

Starting Date

August 1, 2017


$13/hour for up to 400 hours plus mileage
