The Lincoln County Drug Free Coalition is encouraging parents and caregivers to sign up for Know!, a free resource available through the Prevention Action Alliance. Know! gives parents and caregivers of middle school-age kids the education, strategies, and empowerment they need to raise children who are healthy as well as alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free.

“According to the 2016 Social Norms Survey, both Merrill and Tomahawk middle school students reported that they consider parents to be an important source of information,” says Kristin Bath, Public Health Educator for the Lincoln County Health Department and member of the Lincoln County Drug Free Coalition. “This data is encouraging and indicates that kids do value what their parents have to say. Know! is a helpful resource that promotes meaningful conversations between caregivers and their chidren.”

When parents sign up for Know! they will receive emails twice a month about substance abuse, mental health, bullying, self-esteem, peer pressure, social media and other relevant or emerging topics.

To sign up for Know! or to get more information, visit: https://preventionactionalliance.org/about/programs/know/ . You can also contact Kristin Bath at 715-539-1373 or kbath@co.lincoln.wi.us. The mission of the Lincoln County Drug Free Coalition is to work with the community to reduce the use/abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs among youth and over time among adults.
