Step 1:  Self-Guided Pre-Feasibility Assessment

A good place to start with any wood energy project, whether a conversion or a new installation, is with a pre-feasibility assessment.  Such assessments are typically for buildings less than 50,000 square feet using less than 35K gallons of propane or less than 22.5K gallons of fuel oil per year.  To get started, try using one of the online tools below.  Or, contact one of our Team’s Wood Energy Advisors.

The Wood Energy Financial App developed by the University of Minnesota and United States Forest Service allows you to assess the financial viability of a wood energy project.

The QAT Lite tool is intended for communities to better understand the impact of a wood energy project on a local community.

Step 2.  Contact Us For Help

Once you’ve completed your pre-feasibility assessment contact us and we’ll help you interpret the results.  In some cases, the pre-feasibility analysis is all you need to make a go or no-go decision.  In other cases, you may need to conduct a more thorough feasibility analysis.  We’ll help you figure it out.  Contact sasanford@wisc.edu.

Step 1. Feasibility Analysis
