Local Government

Dane County Cities & Villages Association (DCCVA): The Association provides cities and villages with a voice within Dane County’s governance. They provide a forum for officials to exchange ideas and advocate for cities and villages.

The Dane County Towns Association advocates for towns. Elected town officials in Dane County meet and discuss common issues both local and statewide.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension’s Local Government Education program provides educational programs supporting local governments and training for government officials. Among other topics, the Local Government Education program  provides resources on:

  • the Wisconsin Certified Public Manager program,
  • Board of review training,
  • Deliberative governance,
  • Disaster management,
  • Effective meetings,
  • Election training,
  • Voter registration,
  • GREAT: Graphing revenues, expenditures, and taxes tool.
