WORKSHOP TITLE: A Day in the Life of a Food Product Entrepreneur

DESCRIPTION: Food business entrepreneurs will discuss what a typical day running their business is like. Learn from a panel discussion of seasoned entrepreneurs key considerations for launching your business; how to grow a sustainable business; and tips for maintaining a sane life and keeping your family happy while operating a business.
WORKSHOP TITLE: Branding and Marketing your Food Business

DESCRIPTION: Once you’ve developed and prototyped your product, you’ll need to determine your brand identity and marketing strategy. Learn from marketing professionals how your brand can communicate a message about your values, how packaging and labeling are integral to product integrity, and tips for using marketing to communicate your values and product uniqueness to target audiences.

WORKSHOP TITLE: Where will you sell your food product? The Distribution Puzzle (Working with a Retailer or Distributor)
DATE: Thursday, Dec. 13
TIME: 6:00 – 8:00 pm
LOCATION: Dane County UW-Extension, 5201 Fen Oak Dr., Madison 53718, Conference Room 121
DESCRIPTION: Some food business entrepreneurs will sell their products out of a food cart, or at a farmers market direct to consumers. But there’s only so much time you can spend peddling your product directly – at some stage in your growth you may need to find some alternative retail or wholesale markets!  Hear from representatives of retail outlets ways to get your product on retail shelfs. Learn about when it makes sense to work with a distributor to reach more people in more places. You will leave this session ready to explore marketing options for your own product.
