Youth Tractor & Machinery Safety Course

The Tractor and Machinery Safety course certifies youth under 16 to operate tractors on public roads or work near dangerous equipment on farms. This certification allows 12 and 13 year olds to drive equipment on public roads for their parents’ farm, while 14 and 15 year olds are certified to work for extended family and non-family members. Certification is obtained by successfully completing the Tractor and Farm Machinery Safety Training Course including a written and tractor driving exam.

2017 Class

For 2017, the tractor and machinery safety class will run June 20-22, from 8am-2pm  and June 23, 8am-12pm  at the West Madison Research Station at 8502 Mineral Point Rd, Verona. A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE FIRST DAY, JUNE 20, FROM 8-9 am. (Parents will not be needed for the remainder of the course)

Children must attend all 24 hours of the class and pass a written and tractor driving test to be eligible for the tractor safety certificate at the conclusion of the class.
