MILWAUKEE’S MAGNIFICENT WATERS

June 23rd: Milwaukee River Kayak Kletzch to Riverside Park

Explore this beautiful stretch of the MilwaukeeRiverto discover and discuss current issues facing the river and possible solutions.  Bring a lunch or something to snack on for our stop in Lincoln Parkto discuss progress being made in making the MilwaukeeRiverhealthier.  Meet at the Urban Ecology Center and we will ride up together.

July 6th: MilwaukeeRiver Kayak Kletzch toEstabrook Park 1-4pm

Explore this beautiful stretch of the MilwaukeeRiver. We will discover and discuss current issues facing the river as well as what we can do and has been done.  Meet at the Urban Ecology Center and we will ride up together.

July 13th: Kinnickinnic River Canoe 1-4pm

Discover this truly unique urban waterway.  Known as the ”KK”, this river has much to offer from great blue herons to beavers!  We will also discuss the wonderful projects taking place to improve the country’s most urbanized watershed. Meet at the Urban Ecology Center and we will ride up together.

July 14th: History ofMilwaukee by Canoe 9am-Noon

Look at the city’s history from a different perspective! We will paddle down the river comparing pictures of the past to the future as we learn about the evolution of this histoic city and waterway. From its Native American roots to the riverwalk of today, this is sure to be am informative excursion.  Meet at the Milwaukee Rowing Club Boathouse,1990 N. Commerce St.Milwaukee WI.

July 16th: Macro Invertebrate Mayhem 4-6pm

Learn about the water quality of the MilwaukeeRiverby studying the insects below the surface. We will don  hip boots (provided) and use kick nets to capture macroinvertebrates (AKA – ”bugs”, “squiggly wigglies”) then we will take a closer look at them and use scientific methods to find out how clean the water is like an aquatic biologist would. Meet us at Hubbard Park  3565 N. Morris Blvd. Shorewood, WI 53211.

July 23rd: HikeLincoln Park 6-8:30pm

Lincoln Parkhas improved in many ways from a refreshing water park to the dredging of the sloughs way. Join us for a hike to highlight these projects as well as discover little known areas of the park. Meet at the Urban Ecology Center and we will ride up together.
July 24th: Milwaukee River Hike 6-8pm

The MilwaukeeRiverfrom Locust St.down to North Ave.has gone through some major makeovers with more in the process. Join us as we learn about all the amazing projects that are helping to improve the health of this historic river. Meet at the Urban Ecology Center and we will ride up together.

July 28th: River Clean-up by Canoe 9am-Noon

Explore the MilwaukeeRiverwhile helping to make it a better place. We will paddle down the river and collect garbage and other debris. Meet at the Milwaukee Rowing Club Boathouse ,1990 N. Commerce St.Milwaukee WI.

July 30th:MilwaukeeRiver Canoe Thiensville toBrown Deer Rd. 10am -3pm

Join us as we paddle down this rural stretch of the MilwaukeeRiver. We will discover the plants and animals that inhabit this magnificent river. We will also discuss the current issues and projects that are helping to improve the river. Meet at the Urban Ecology Center and we will ride up together.

August 2nd: Kinnickinnic River Hike 6-8:30pm
