Beacon Hill Village is a membership organization in the heart of Boston. Created by a group of long-time Beacon Hill residents as an alternative to moving from their homes to retirement or assisted living communities, it was founded in 2001. In December, 2009, the Housing Policy Division of California’s Department of Housing and Community Development published an annotated bibliography entitled, “Aging in Place & Universal Design Resources”. Edited by Linda M. Wheaton, and compiled by Joel Tochterman, the bibliography identifies a number of resources that would be helpful for communities engaged in becoming more aging-friendly.
