Dogs Project

The dog project will help you explore what kind of dog fits into your family’s lifestyle and how to be an excellent trainer and caretaker of your dog. You will learn about dog breeds, dog ownership, and demonstrate dog care and management in feeding, handling, record-keeping, grooming, and fitting.

4-H Project & 4-H Activity Policies are available here.

The Rock County 4-H Dog Project provides youth a fun and hands-on learning experience that develops life skills as well as teach valuable information about proper care for their dog.

We welcome all youth ages 3rd through 13th grade enrolled in 4-H.

Project members will learn how to train their dog in obedience, agility, rally, and showmanship. In addition, youth learn basic skills for dog care and other dog related education.

Members without dogs may wish to participate in quiz bowl, posters, and other activities that do not require dog ownership.

Youth also have the opportunity to develop responsibility, decision-making, nurturing, patience, and communication and public speaking skills in the 4-H Dog Project
