Tools for Schools

This section contains a collection of tools and resources for schools, including a power point presentation about school breakfast, ready to use information for newsletters, information about how to market a breakfast program, menu ideas and more.

These resources are for schools to use as they plan to start or improve a breakfast program and also for use with teachers, school administrators, parents, students, etc.

The first step to starting or proposing changes to an existing breakfast program is to conduct an assessment of your school and its needs.

Building Your Own School Breakfast Needs Assessment is a document that can help schools collect information that will influence what type of program or changes to implements.

Knowing the Policies, Regulations and Guidelines of the School Breakfast Program is essential for a successful program.

Income guidelines and reimbursement rates  for the school breakfast program changes yearly.  This document provides updated information about reimbursement rates for severe need and non severe need schools as well as the income guidelines for child nutrition programs.

Adhering to the nutrition guidelines set for the School Breakfast Program is important.  Nutrition and the School Breakfast Program is a brief overview of these guidelines that school may use when talkking with parents, teachers, wellness committees and other interested groups.

At the beginning of a school year, parents are asked to complete meal application forms.  The information collected in these forms are useful for schools and Increasing the Return of Meal Applications is a document that provides some ideas that schools can use to encourage parents to return their completed meal applications.
