School Breakfast Menu Ideas
What you offer for breakfast can have a big impact on your school breakfast program.
What you decide to serve depends on many things, such as:
- compliance with federal and state regulations
- cost of food
- cost and time to prepare the food
- seasonality
- students’ liking the food
- storage and perishability of food
- nutrition quality (how ‘healthy’ a food is or is perceived to be)
How you serve breakfast in your school will also dictate to some degree what you decide to serve. For example, many school nutrition directors have shied away from serving foods that require syrups when they serve breakfast in the classroom to avoid the potential of spillage.
There are many issues that need to be considered when deciding a menu and menu pattern. Below is a list of menu samples compiled from various schools across the state of Wisconsin.
