Naturalist Spotlight: Drew Dettmann

Hello! My name is Drew Dettmann and I am a summer teaching naturalist at Upham Woods. I was born, raised, and currently live in Baraboo, Wisconsin. I love doing almost any activity outdoors, but mostly I enjoy horseback riding. I have been barrel racing since the age of 10 and developed a strong passion for animals along the way. Throughout high school and college, I also identified a passion for interacting with children and educating them about agriculture. I recently graduated from UW – Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. I did not get accepted into veterinary school following graduation, which provided me with additional time to gain knowledge in new fields of interest – leading me to Upham Woods. I am most excited to expand my knowledge about environmental conservation, while educating youth and adult groups who visit Upham Woods. I am also excited to learn about and bond with the reptiles and raptors this summer.
