If you like to share your knowledge of plant culture and health, you can use this talent to assist others as a UW-Extension Plant Health Advisor. PHAs are Master Gardeners who help horticulture staff at county Extension offices to meet the diagnostic needs of the gardening public by responding to inquiries:
- By phone
- Though samples submitted
- In person at the office
- At outreach sites
They also assist with preparation of educational displays and exhibits related to plant health issues.
To find out more about the PHA volunteer opportunities, call:
- In Milwaukee County, Sharon Morrissey, 414-256-466o or email@example.com
- In Waukesha County, Kristin Krokowski, 262-548-7768 or firstname.lastname@example.org
or Mary at 262-548-7775.
As a PHA, you have the satisfaction of helping others as well as learning more about horticulture. PHAs have opportunities for professional development including special training and monthly newsletters with updates on plant health issues.
