Poverty Awareness for Community Engagement

Not all Wisconsin communities are created equal. Each community differs socially, economically, demographically and culturally, as do the needs of poor and low-income community members. Poverty is more than just a lack of money, it is an individual, family, or community’s lack of goods and resources that are needed to support well-being and stability.

University of Wisconsin-Extension Cooperative Extension County-Based Family Living Educators develop and facilitate education programs in local Wisconsin communities to meet a variety of community needs. County-based educators have tools and resources available to them to assist communities as they seek to understand and address poverty issues.
