4-H Ambassadors Needed

4-H keeps on getting better and we need to spread the word.  The 4-H program is one of the largest out-of-school education youth organizations in the world.

What has 4-H done for you?  Has it developed your leadership skills?  Has it provided information and training in a certain project area?  Has it influenced your career choice?

Here is a chance to share your experience, learn public presentation skills, have fun and tell the 4-H story.  We are now accepting applications for 4-H Ambassadors.  As an Ambassador, you will represent the Lincoln County 4-H program and be involved in the following:

  • Attend Ambassador meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with 4-H Events/Activities
  • Emcee county festivals and contests
  • Assist with awards/recognition events
  • Reach the public with the 4-H story
  • Talk to community groups and schools
  • Talk on radio programs
  • Write newspaper articles
  • Represent 4-H in parades
  • Assist with promotion at the county fair
  • Promote 4-H during National 4-H Week
  • Create inner organizational 4-H understanding
  • Talk to 4-H clubs
  • Work with leaders
  • Contribute articles to 4-H Express
  • Assist at the county fair
  • Assist with other activities as designated by the 4-H Board of Directors, Fair Board and/or the 4-H Youth Development Agent and/or Program Advisor
  • Work with After/Before School Programs to help bring 4-H to more youth

For more information and an application form, contact the UW-Extension Office.  Applications are due to the UW-Extension Office by September 1th.  Interviews will take place at the September 22nd Board of Director’s Meeting.  All applications will receive a letter, along with an interview schedule.  Returning Ambassadors may or may not be interviewed.  New Ambassador duties will begin in October 2010 through October 2011.

Lincoln County 4-H Ambassador Happenings

The Lincoln County 4H Ambassadors have been very active during the months of June and July!  Besides the normal activities of After the Bell and After School Programs, we have been busy planning what we hope will be (or rather was, as the fair will have already passed by the time this comes out) a great and successful fair.  Here is just a quick snapshot of our recent activities  . . .

  • Hayley, Kelsey, Megan and Brittany attended the final After the Bell program at PRMS on May 20th and once again, everyone had a blast J
  • Hayley and Kelsey also headed the final Tomahawk After School Program which also went extremely well.
  • In preparation for the fair, we assigned fair duties and planned our raffle and Ambassador booths-hopefully you got a chance to see them.  We also had fun planning the Farm Olympics with the leadership of Kelsey, who did a wonderful job in choosing this year’s “events”.
  • Safety Day Camp will be on August 10th and Myria, Stevie, Brittany, Megan, Erin and RaeAnn are all attending.
  • The North Central Regional Volunteer forum (NCRVF) coming up this October 7-10 in Lansing Michigan.  Kim, RaeAnn, Erin, Brittany and her mom all look forward to representing our county.
  • To help fundraise for NCRVF, we have sold flowers with the help of Kim and will be helping as the GRABAAWR (try to say that one J ) red wagon team on June 21 and 22
  • Also on the agenda are the Merrill Backpack project headed by Megan and the Pepsi Refresh grant.  For the Merrill Backpack project, if you have any unused school supplies, please think about donating it to the cause.  School is coming up quickly.
