  1. Make a careful variety selection. Please see the 2011 WI Winter Wheat Performance Test
  2. Plant new seed
  3. Use a fungicide seed treatment
  4. Plant 1 inch deep
  5. Aim for a plant density of 30-35 plants per square foot (1,300,000 and 1,500,000 seeds/acre ) for wheat planted from September 15 – October 1.
