The Central Wisconsin Cat Club is proud to annouce their upcoming 23rd Annual Purebred & Household Pet Spring Cat Show. The show will be held on June 2 and 3, 2012 at Faith Christian Academy Gym (formerly known as St. Matthew’s School), at 225 S. 28th Ave., Wausau, WI. Admission will be $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. The show is open to the public from 9am – 3:30pm both days. They are willing to give special group rates to 4-H clubs.

Dane County Fair will be implementing important exhibitor changes for 2012.  The Fair board has approved a Fair exhibitor and all species fee structure that will be implemented for the 2012 season.  Much research and careful deliberation were given prior to making this decision.  However, the increasing expenses incurred by the Fair coupled with the challenging economy have prompted some tactical changes to keep the Dane County Fair a strong and healthy youth event for the future.

2012 Exhibitor Fees:

  • $3.00 Exhibitor Fee-all Youth exhibitors, except Cloverbuds.
  •  $1.00 Large Animal Fee {Dairy, Beef, Swine, Sheep, Goats, Horses (including Trailer-in) and Llama/Alpaca and Donkey}.
  • $0.50 Small Animal Fee {Poultry, Rabbit, Dog, Cat, Pocket Pet, Peacock/Peahen, Cavies, Cage Birds & Any Other Small Exotic Animal}

 In an effort to keep total Fair costs to our exhibitor families reasonable, the Fair board further approved that pre-ordered 2012 Season Admission Passes for exhibitors and family members will remain at the 2011 rates. The Fair board and management will continue to strive to make the Dane County Fair a great family event that showcases Dane County youth.  The statewide 4-H Arts Camp for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders is scheduled for October 6-7, 2012 at Camp Upham Woods, Wisconsin Dells.  The Camper application is now available on the State 4-H website at http://fyi.uwex.edu/4hartswisconsin/arts-camp/.
 Youth will get together to explore and participate in the exciting world of the arts: theatre and drama, photography, communication, music, visual art, juggling and MORE! Campers will learn plenty of creative ideas to bring home for their club.  Up to six youth from each county may apply.  More will be accepted if space is available.
 Camp is $60.00 which includes a camp T-shirt.  Fill out the application now and return it to the 4-H Youth Development Staff as soon as possible.

Every year the Shooting Sports Committee organizes youth archery lessons throughout Dane County for interested youth. Classes are run by state certified volunteer instructors and are open to youth of all ages. We are excited to report that we are seeing increasing levels of interest in archery classes, as well as increased participation at archery competitions. As we look to expand the class offerings to additional areas of the county, we also need to expand our inventory of equipment. We are seeking donations of bows; both compound and recurve, arrows, bow cases, arm guards and finger tabs. If you have equipment that you have outgrown or no longer use, please consider donating it to the committee so that we may continue to grow. Please contact Marty Witt at
